broccoli raab, caciocavallo, mozzarella, olives, hot peppers, sausage pizza

ricotta cannoli

still thinking about this perfect sunday dinner at pizzeria delfina in the mission district during my trip to san francisco. as a new yorker i'm a little spoiled/jaded when it comes to good pizza but this place was kind of all around perfect. definitely would go back to re-enjoy that phenomenal burrata, the pizza, the wine, and about fifty pieces of those hand-rolled cannoli to go.

if you're feeling particularly festive while visiting fisherman's wharf (and let's face it, embracing your inner child and getting into the tourist spirit can just be damn fun) i would recommend trying out the codmother on jones street. i was honestly a little intimidated by the wait & line but man was it worth it! delicious, flakey, cripsy, salty crunchy goodness. find their yelp page here.

roasted turkey cuban sandwich, flying pigs ham, dairyere cheese and pickles

a luxuriously late lunch at abc cocina, part of a three day food vacation in the city to celebrate the boy's birthday. the highlight of this meal were the griddled fish tacos that were so delicious i did a double take after the first bite. still thinking about how perfect the tart pickled nappa cabbage tasted with the smoky aioli. this dish (along with their famous spring pea guacamole) are a must when ordering!

images from a lovely saturday night double date at narcissa at the standard east hotel. real standouts include the baked oysters with truffled-bonito butter (!!!), the simple brussels sprouts leaves salad that wasn't just another roasted brussels sprouts dish, and that rotisserie baby chicken dish served in a winter truffle broth.

tea time at dover street market

fresh mint tea

 photo IMG_7231.jpg

probably my absolute favorite thing about the new dover street market in new york (aside for their heartbreakingly beautiful array of sophie bille brahe pearl jewelry) is the glorious addition of rose bakery to the new york café scene. that innocent enough looking green tea cake slice packed a vibrant punch that made my tastebuds do the culinary version of a cartoonish whistle-blowing double take. and fresh mint leaves in my pot of mint tea? icing on the cake.

the calm before the storm: leisurely sunday brunching at Lafayette, wearing what i'd like to think is my official "hey snowy new york, i give up" jacket combination of not so practical shearling/leather with an oh so practical hooded rain jacket.

escaping a rain shower post-ballet at Lincoln Center by diving into P.J. Clarke's conveniently across the street. kept it classic by ordering some of our favorites, old fashioned and burger for him, manhattan and moules frites for me. the gigantic parmesan tater tots though, definitely for the table.

mighty quinn's bbq

pulled pork & brisket sandwich, buttermilk broccoli salad with bacon

one of the best things to happen to my neighborhood is the amazing bbq served up at Mighty Quinn's on 6th and 2nd. the slow smoked tender meat, the sweet and tangy finger-licking good sauce, and the perfectly pickled cucumbers/celery/red onions/chiles that are offered up as free sides takes this texan girl back to a very happy and nostalgic place. nothing like the power of true comfort food and the flavors of home that provides a momentary escape from the hustle and bustle of nyc.

no better way to celebrate our tenth valentine's day together than an intimate fireside dinner at a brooklyn favorite, vinegar hill house. looking forward to another ten with my goofy funny valentine!
